After previously announcing a trio of special concerts in their home state of Texas next month, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers have now scheduled a full-length U.S. tour commemorating their golden anniversary — it gets underway August 16 in Ridgefield, Washington.
The trek, which currently features more than 30 dates, is mapped out through an October 16 concert in West Palm Beach, Florida. Cheap Trick will the support act at most of the shows, while Lynyrd Skynyrd will open a pair of dates in late August.
Tickets for the newly announced shows go on sale to the general public starting this Friday, April 12, at 10 a.m. local time. Members of ZZ Top’s Tres Hombres fan club will be able to purchase pre-sale tickets starting Tuesday, April 9, at 10 a.m. local time.
“We’re truly excited to be appearing across the continent this summer and fall, playing our bluesy kind of rock like we started in ’69,” says frontman Billy Gibbons.
“The beards, [drummer] Frank‘s excepted, are perhaps a bit longer, yet nothing else has changed,” he adds. “We’re keeping it that way.”
As previously reported, ZZ Top’s three Texas anniversary gigs are scheduled for May 17 in Dallas, May 18 in the Houston suburb of The Woodlands, and May 19 and Austin. Supporting ZZ Top at those shows will be Cheap Trick and Bad Company.
ZZ Top also has a 2019 European outing lined up that runs from a June 4 concert in Helsinki, Finland, through a July 12 performance in London. You can check out the band’s full schedule at ZZTop.com.
