ABC/Paul Lobo; ABC/Randy HolmesThe lineup for the 2019 edition of Switzerland’s famed Montreux Jazz Festival has been unveiled, and it features a variety of big names, including Sting, Elton John, Slash and ZZ Top.
The 16-day festival gets underway on June 28, and will feature a headlining performance by Sting that evening, while Elton will play the following night. Slash, with his solo band Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, will perform on June 30 and ZZ Top will appear on July 2 along with Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
Other notable performers appearing at the 2019 Montreux Festival include newly minted Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Janet Jackson on June 30; folk legend Joan Baez on July 3; Thom Yorke, frontman of new Rock Hall inductees Radiohead, on July 4; and Joe Jackson on July 9.
The July 13 finale of the fest will include a concert dubbed “Soundtrack of the ’80s,” featuring legendary producer Quincy Jones accompanied by a symphony.
