Fantasy Records; Daryl HannahSince 2015, Neil Young has released four albums featuring Promise of the Real, the group fronted by Willie Nelson‘s son Lukas, as his backing band, and now the folk-rock legend is returning the favor. Young is among the guest artists who contributed to Lukas Nelson & the Promise of the Real’s forthcoming record, Turn Off the News (Build a Garden), which will be released on June 14.

Other well-known artists who lent their vocal or musical talents to the album include Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, Kesha, Shooter Jennings, Margo Price and country star Randy Houser.

The Young albums to which Promise of the Real has contributed are 2015’s The Monsanto Years, the 2016 live collection Earth, 2017’s The Visitor and the 2018 Paradox soundtrack. Lukas and his band also appeared in the film Paradox alongside Neil. The group also has served as Young’s main touring band over the last few years, and will be backing Neil at a series of shows later this month in the Northwest U.S. and during his summer European tour.
