Credit: Rob DemartinBruce Springsteen has released a third song from his forthcoming studio album, Western Stars, a rootsy ballad called “Tucson Train” that’s augmented with strings and horns.

The Boss also has premiered a video for the track, a black-and white clip that’s shows him performing the tune along with some of the musicians who contributed to Western Stars, including his wife, Patti Scialfa, in what appears to be a roadhouse bar.

The video was directed by Thom Zimny, who also directed the Springsteen on Broadway Netflix special and a few other Bruce-related projects.

“Tucson Train” features Springsteen singing in a Southern drawl, telling the story of a man who leaves a volatile romantic relationship in San Francisco to work a construction job in Arizona, and is now waiting for his love to come visit him.

“I come here looking for a new life,” Bruce sings in the second verse. “One I wouldn’t have to explain/To that voice that keeps me awake at night/When a little peace would make everything right/If I could just turn off my brain/Now my baby’s coming in on the Tucson train.”

“Tucson Train” is available for purchase now as a digital download and via streaming services.  If you pre-order the album, you’ll receive the track as a free download, as well as the previously released tunes “Hello Sunshine” and “There Goes My Miracle.”

Western Stars will be released June 14. In a December 2018 interview with Variety, Bruce described the record as being “influenced by Southern California pop music of the ’70s…Glen Campbell, Jimmy Webb, Burt Bacharach, those kinds of records.”
