RhinoLast year, Yes marked its 50th anniversary by mounting a special tour that featured founding keyboardist Tony Kaye joining the prog-rock legends throughout the trek, and several other former members making guest appearances at select shows. Now the band has unveiled plans to release a concert album titled Yes 50 Live on August 2 that features performances culled from the tour.
Much of the album was recorded at a July 2018 show in Philadelphia at which four ex-members — Kaye, singer Trevor Horn, and keyboardists Patrick Moraz and Tom Brislin — joined Yes’ current lineup. Moraz lends his talents to a version of “Soon,” while Kaye appears on versions of the classics “Yours Is No Disgrace,” “Roundabout” and “Starship Trooper.”
Yes 50 Live will be available as a two-CD set, a four-LP collection and digitally as a download and via streaming services. A limited-edition colored-vinyl version of the album will be available at Rhino.com while supplies last.
The CD and LP sets come packaged with an eight-page booklet boasting photos by the Gottlieb Brothers. Yes 50 Live‘s cover was painted by longtime Yes album artist Roger Dean.
As previously reported, Yes will be heading out soon on a new North American package trek dubbed The Royal Affair Tour, which also will feature Asia, Moody Blues singer/bassist John Lodge and Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy, which will feature guest vocals by Arthur Brown of The Crazy World of Arthur Brown fame. The outing kicks off June 12 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and is mapped out through a July 28 show in Saratoga, California.
