Credit: Kevin FoleyEddie Money has had complications with the recovery from a recent heart-valve procedure, and has been forced to cancel all of his upcoming scheduled summer concerts.

According to a statement posted on AXS.TV, Money “developed pneumonia while in the hospital,” and although he’s “now on the mend,” the cancellation of his shows were necessary because he “needed…extra time to fully rest and recuperate.”

The message adds that this marks the first time in the 70-year-old singer’s 40-plus year career that he’s had to cancel his summer concerts.

The statement concludes, “Eddie hopes to be back later this year to promote his new album Brand New Day and also the premiere of the second half” of season 2 of his AXS TV reality series Real Money, which is slated to begin airing in the fall.

Money announced in late May that he would be undergoing a “minimally invasive [heart-valve] procedure” after recently experiencing shortness of breath.

Also in May, Eddie revealed that he’d be releasing Brand New Day, his first new studio album in 15 years, on July 19. The record features 11 new original songs: 10 that were written by Money and one that was penned by his son Desmond. A video for the album’s title track premiered May 10 on YouTube.
