iStock/FabrikaCrDavid Byrne is tired of all the negativity in the world, and is taking matters into his own hands. That’s according to the ex-Talking Heads frontman himself, who this past weekend launched an online magazine called Reasons To Be Cheerful

Byrne describes the publication as “a self-help magazine for people who hate self-help magazines,” and “a fire engine for the soul.”  He says in a Facebook post, “We’re telling stories that reveal that there are, in fact, a surprising number of reasons to feel cheerful — that provide a more optimistic and, we believe, more accurate depiction of the world.”

Given the onslaught of grim news around these days, Byrne says, “We hope to balance out some of the amplified negativity and show that things might not be as bad as we think.”

Reasons To Be Cheerful includes content by Byrne himself, and a variety of contributors including Brian Eno. The Roxy Music keyboard player wrote a piece called The Necessity Of Nuclear, a response to an article by Byrne about how scary nuclear energy is.
