iStock/TonkovicHaving kicked his infamous drug habit, Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards only admits to two vices nowadays: coffee and cigarettes. But it’s the latter habit that’s reportedly required Keef to take special precautions during the band’s No Filter tour, which wraps up tonight in Miami.
The British paper The Telegraph reports that in the band’s shared backstage area, Keith, 75, has been using a special motorized ashtray that sucks in all his cigarette smoke, because health-conscious Mick Jagger doesn’t want to breathe it in.
The paper says Richards explained that he bought the high-tech ashtray so as “not to bother Mick.”
Mick’s apparently able to put up with Richards puffing away onstage, though. The Telegraph reports that during the band’s show at London Stadium, the guitarist lit up onstage, despite the venue’s “no smoking” rule.
However, Richards wasn’t fined because, according to the local council, “Smoking on stage is permitted where the artistic integrity of a performance makes it appropriate for a person to smoke.”
