Columbia Records

Columbia RecordsBruce Springsteen‘s new concert film Western Stars is getting a wide theatrical release on October 25.  Now comes word that a companion soundtrack album will arrive the same day.

Western Stars — Songs from the Film will feature Springsteen’s performances of all 13 songs from his latest studio album, also called Western Stars, performed in order, as well as a cover of Glen Campbell‘s chart-topping 1975 hit “Rhinestone Cowboy.”

As previously reported, the Western Stars film, which Springsteen co-directed, features footage of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer performing his 2019 album in front of a small audience in a 100-year-old barn at his Stone Hill Farm in Colts Neck, New Jersey.

He’s accompanied by a 30-piece orchestra and some of the musicians who contributed to the record. Bruce’s wife, E Street Band backing singer Patti Scialfa, appears as a special guest.

The performance segments are interspersed with sweeping, cinematic footage of the Western U.S. Springsteen also contributes voiceover narration, musing on the themes covered in Western Stars‘ songs, such as love, loss, loneliness, family and the American dream.

The Western Stars movie premiered earlier this month at the Toronto International Film Festival. Special screenings of the flick will take place in select cinemas on October 19 and 23, before it gets a wide release on the 25th. Visit FathomEvents.com for more info on the screenings.
