Courtesy of RhinoDoors guitarist Robby Krieger will participate in the fourth annual “Day of The Doors” celebration, which will take place January 4, 2020, at and near the site of the original Morrison Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

In conjunction with the event, the façade of the hotel is being restored to look like it did when renowned photographer Henry Diltz took The Doors’ photo there for the Morrison Hotel album cover.

Among the ticketed activities scheduled for the gathering are a sneak-peek screening of the new concert film and documentary The Doors: Break On Thru — A Celebration of Ray Manzarek and a 10th anniversary screening of the When You’re Strange documentary.

Krieger will take part in an autograph session for those who purchase tickets for the When You’re Strange screening.  He’ll also play an acoustic set with actor/musician Dennis Quaid and participate in a Q&A session for people buying tickets to the Break On Thru screening.

Tickets are available at EventBrite.com.  If you can’t be there in person, the live performance will be streamed on The Doors’ official Facebook page.

Other planned “Day of The Doors” activities and attractions include photo opportunities at the Morrison Hotel façade, a Doors-curated photo exhibit at the nearby Morrison Hotel Gallery featuring rare images taken by Diltz, a Doors pop-up merch shop, food and beverage areas, and more.

In addition, a raffle will be held offering the chance to have your taken at the hotel by Diltz himself, with the money going to benefit the L.A.-based homeless charity The Midnight Mission.

Meanwhile, The Doors are planning to release a deluxe 50th anniversary Morrison Hotel reissue in 2020. Originally released in February 1970, the album featured classic songs like “Roadhouse Blues,” “Waiting for the Sun” and “Peace Frog.”
