Gray, who’s the only original member of the famed Southern rock band that’s still in the group, chats about his long career with the South Carolina-based outfit best known for enduring tunes like “Can’t You See” and “Heard It in a Love Song.”

In a sneak-peek clip from the episode, Gray shares a hilariously awkward recollection about the time that The Marshall Tucker Band performed at a Wisconsin nudist festival.

The singer is quick to point out that he didn’t strip down at the event, quipping, “They wouldn’t have had another one.”

As Gray recalls, “[I]t was the only one in the United States for that year. The guy was very proud and he took me around. I wasn’t embarrassed, but they asked us if we would mind taking our clothes off. I said, ‘No, that’s not gonna happen.”

Doug says he also remembers joking to the crowd during the show, “This is not a very good day to tell you that we have merchandise and t-shirts over here for sale.”

In addition, he recalls struggling to come up with something to say to entertain the underdressed crowd.

“I don’t care if you’re young or old, there’s just certain things you don’t want to see,” Gray notes. “So, I stood there for 35 or 40 minutes trying to figure out what I could say to get those people to get excited, except I didn’t want them to get up out of their chairs.”

The Marshall Tucker Band will be back in Wisconsin in January to kick off its Southern Rockin’ Roundup tour.
