Keyboardist Jonathan Cain tells ABC Audio that at the Vegas performances, the band will be “just going out [and] playing our hits, and…maybe a little ‘Auld Lang Syne.'”

He adds with a laugh, “It’s gonna be Happy New Year’s with Journey.”

The new Las Vegas dates follow the band’s successful nine-show run at The Colosseum in October.

“The people showed up in droves, so we sold out every night,” Jonathan notes. “On a Wednesday night, it’s pretty hard to sell out, they tell us, and we sold out all three of our Wednesdays. So it was a good sign.”

According to Cain, it felt special for Journey to be performing at a historic venue like The Colosseum at Caesars.

“[I]t’s one of those kind of epic places where…Celine [Dion] and Cher and Elton [John] and all these people have gone,” he maintains. “It’s almost like playing in a sort of consecrated place…that has this spiritual energy to it.”

In addition, Cain explains that the Colosseum concerts were enhanced by the venue’s new sound system and its relatively small size.

“It’s almost like a big studio, because [of]…the soundproofing and all that stuff, so it’s very intimate and very…musical at the same time,” he notes. “So you get a real good look at the audience, and you can really hear yourself well in there.”

After the December shows, Journey will take a break, before hitting the road in May for a major U.S. tour with The Pretenders. Check out the band’s full schedule at JourneyMusic.com.
