Each year, a Recording Academy committee chooses select works to be inducted, as part of its “commitment to preserving and celebrating timeless recordings.”

The albums being honored include Frampton’s 1976 classic Frampton Comes Alive!, The Allman Brothers’ 1972 record Eat a Peach, Mitchell’s 1969 sophomore collection Clouds, and Devo’s 1978 debut Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!

The songs being inducted include The Police’s chart-topping 1983 ballad “Every Breathe You Take,” Elton’s enduring 1972 tune “Tiny Dancer,” and Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This),” which also hit #1 in 1983.

Overall, 26 recordings are being inducted this year, raising the total number of Grammy Hall of Fame recordings to 1,114. To qualify, the recordings must be at least 25 years old and “exhibit qualitative or historical significance.”

This year’s inductees will be mentioned during the Grammy Awards, which airs January 26 on CBS.
