UMeIggy Pop has announced a new box set documenting his collaborative period with David Bowie in the mid-to-late ’70s.
The seven-disc collection, dubbed The Bowie Years, is due out May 29. It includes remastered versions of the Godfather of Punk’s 1977 solo albums The Idiot and Lust for Life — both of which were written and produced with Bowie — as well as the live album TV Eye Live, recorded that same year.
You’ll also find a disc of demos and rarities, plus live 1977 recordings from shows in London, Cleveland and Chicago.
One of the rarities is an alternate mix of the song “China Girl,” originally from The Idiot and later re-recorded by Bowie for 1983’s Let’s Dance. You can download the “China Girl” alt mix now via digital outlets.
If you don’t want to spring for a seven-disc box set, deluxe two-disc editions of The Idiot and Lust for Lifewill also be available as standalone releases on May 29. The Idiot also includes the London live recording, while Lust for Life is accompanied by TV Eye Live.
Pop’s most recent album is Free, which was released last September.
