Kimberly “Kimmy” Cramer is this spring’s recipient of Lake Michigan College’s Spirit of Nursing award, one of the highest honors bestowed upon a graduating nursing student at the college.

LMC says Cramer received her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing on May 4, heading off into what will certainly be a successful career.

The Spirit of Nursing award is presented each semester to the graduate who best exemplifies the philosophy and core values of the LMC Nursing Program. The award recognizes not only academic success, but also personal qualities and professional attributes essential in nursing. Those include compassion, communication, integrity, collaboration, inclusivity, and leadership.

Cramer says she got her start in healthcare when beginning work in the OB unit in St. Joseph in 2017 as a unit secretary. That experience made her want to learn more. She says, “People are at such a vulnerable time in their lives when they come to us, and I want to provide them with comfort and care.”

Cramer was nominated by her classmates and selected by nursing faculty from among the nominees for the award.

The Spirit of Nursing award is presented at the completion of each semester’s cohort.
