The city of Bridgman is inviting the public to an open house next month for its next Five Year Parks Master Plan.

Bridgman Parks Director Sara Ball tells us work will be taking place all year to update the document. She says it’s needed to ensure the city’s parks are well maintained and can be improved.

The plan lays out long-term goals for the development of parks in the community and helps the city remain eligible for parks grants. For example, Ball says recent improvements that were funded with Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Grants include the playground at Toth Park and restroom renovations at the east campground at Weko Beach.

The open house for everyone to learn more and offer ideas and feedback will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at Toth Park in Bridgman on June 16. City staff will be on hand to take comments and answer questions about what’s planned for the parks.

The goal is to have a newly-updated parks plan adopted in December of this year.
