The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Southwest Michigan is warning everyone of a new scam that’s come to its attention.

The clubs say someone impersonating a staff member from the Boys and Girls Clubs has been contacting local businesses and soliciting donations. They claim to be raising funds for the children of single mothers, among other things, but the organization says this is not an authorized fundraising effort.

The Boys and Girls Clubs is not currently conducting any fundraising efforts.

The clubs say if you’re contacted by someone claiming to be with them and asking for money, don’t fall for it. You’re also asked to alert police.
