There will be plenty happening next weekend in downtown St. Joseph as St. Joseph Today welcomes back the annual Memorial Day Parade and the St. Joseph Farmers Market.
St. Joe Today’s Daniele Crevier tells us the Memorial Day Parade is a great way to honor those who have sacrificed for their country. It’ll be held Friday, May 23 at noon, running along Lake Boulevard from Park Street to Port Street.
“Sponsored by Lest We Forget, we invite veterans, our local high school marching bands, some of our queens from Blossomtime and St. Joe, and just kind of have a really nice parade that goes down Lake Boulevard,” Crevier said.
A short memorial ceremony will be held at the end of the parade. Crevier says a large crowd always comes down on its lunch break to watch the procession.
On Saturday, May 24, the St. Joseph Farmers Market returns for the season.
“We’re just so excited to invite farmers back, and we’ve got a couple of new faces. We’ve got some more sponsors that are doing that this year. So we’re bringing back those totes. So we’ll have market totes on the Love Local weekend. So four times throughout the summer, the first like 250 shoppers will get a market tote.”
The farmers market will take place every Saturday from May 24 to October 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lake Bluff Park. Crevier says you can find everything from fresh produce to arts and crafts. There are some new vendors this year, including Grand Traverse Pie Company, Sweet Mitten Candy Company, and Lake Breeze Organics, among others.
