The Trump administration tariffs are affecting businesses in Michigan.

A survey of businesses by the Michigan Retailers Association shows that more than two-thirds have raised prices because of tariffs. The association’s Vic Veda tells us 16.7% report significant price hikes.

There is a very wide range of how consumers are spending right now,” Veda said. “We have consumers who are panic buying, trying to stock up on things that may be impacted by tariffs before the tariffs come into effect. And then you also have consumers who are very hesitant to spend right now because they’re unsure of what’s good to buy right now. Is it safe to spend right now?”

Veda says more than 50% of retailers have either changed or delayed orders from suppliers in other countries as a result of the tariffs. 15% have canceled orders.
