A crackdown on bots could make it easier for you to purchase concert or comedy tickets in Michigan.

Known as the Taylor Swift bills, the legislation would give scalpers who use ticket bots a steep penalty. Democratic state Representative Mike McFall says these greedy individuals rip off people trying to enjoy a fun night out.

Those who abuse the system would face a civil fine of up to $5,000 per ticket fraudulently obtained.

This includes the use of bots to purchase tickets in excess of the ticket limit, using multiple accounts to purchase tickets, and circumventing or disabling security feature that control sales volume,” McFall said.

The bills remain under consideration in the House Judiciary Committee.
