Michigan House Republicans have introduced articles of impeachment against Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson.

The articles are in response to Benson violating a campaign finance law, hosting a campaign press conference in a government building. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel gave Benson a warning and a reminder.

In a statement, Benson calls the House proceedings a “clown show.” State Representative Jim DeSana says otherwise.

“Initiating an action to hold her accountable for her violations of the law,” DeSana said. “I don’t know how that’s a clown show. I believe that’s the role of government. We are dealing with the most lawless Secretary of State in Michigan history.”

Benson would need two thirds of the state House to vote to impeach her.
