This is Men’s Health Week and many men are hesitant to keep up with those doctor’s visits.
Men are 33% less likely to visit the doctor than women, according to the CDC. Priority Health Vice President of Medical and Clinical Operations David Rzeszutko says the male response to stress and anxiety can be different, so it’s important to see a doctor.
“We recommend just kind of educating yourself as we’d recommend all individuals educate yourself about your health risks,” Rzeszutko said. “So, things like knowing your numbers, keeping track of your blood pressure, keeping track of your cholesterol, blood sugars, your weight. They’re all critical indicators of overall health and then staying active and attention to good nutrition.”
Rizzuto says it’s also important for men to exercise, get sleep, and manage stress.
