Phillies 4, Cubs 3 – F/11 – Marsh delivers for Phillies in 11th, rookie Kemp has 3 hits in 4-3 win over Cubs
Brandon Marsh singled home the winning run in the 11th inning after the Philadelphia Phillies used two bunt hits to load the bases and beat the Chicago Cubs 4-3. Ian Happ tied the game at 2 for the Cubs on a solo homer off reliever Matt Strahm in the eighth. Pete Crow-Armstrong hit an RBI double in the 11th off Carlos Hernández for a 3-2 lead. J.T. Realmuto evened the score when he drove in the automatic runner with a single off Daniel Palencia. The Phillies then improbably got two straight bunt singles to set up Marsh’s clutch hit.

NHL – National Hockey League – 2025 Stanley Cup Finals (best of 7)
Last Night
Florida Panthers 6, Edmonton Oilers 1                                            FLA leads 2-1

Panthers 6, Oilers 1 – Panthers rout Oilers 6-1 in Game 3 to take a 2-1 lead in the Stanley Cup Final
Taking advantage of the Edmonton Oilers’ worst performance in several weeks, the defending Florida Panthers pounced on mistakes to win Game 3 in a 6-1 rout Monday night and take a 2-1 series lead. Brad Marchand became the oldest player to score in each of the first three games of a final, while Sam Bennett added his NHL playoff-leading 14th goal after making a big hit on Edmonton’s Vasily Podkolzin that contributed to the turnover to spring him on a breakaway. Marchand and Bennett have combined to score eight goals for Florida, which was dominant in just about every way. Sam Reinhart and Carter Verhaeghe each got their first goal of the series. The defending champion Panthers got balanced production and steady goaltending, chased Edmonton’s Stuart Skinner and made their opponent come unglued between and after whistles. Game 4 is Thursday night at Florida.

NHL – T.J. Oshie, US Olympic star in Sochi and Cup champion, announces he’s retiring
T.J. Oshie, who scored four shootout goals for the U.S. to beat host Russia at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and helped the Washington Capitals win the Stanley Cup in 2018, announced Monday he is retiring after playing 16 NHL seasons. Oshie shared his news in front of hundreds of fans gathered at the fountains at Washington Harbour in Georgetown, seven years to the day of one of the most memorable Cup celebrations in hockey history when he and several teammates jumped into the fountains and took a dip. President of hockey operations Brian MacLellan, general manager Chris Patrick, coach Spencer Carbery and longtime teammates Nicklas Backstrom and John Carlson came out to support Oshie as he called it a career.

NBA – National Basketball Association – 2025 NBA Finals (best of 7)
Wednesday
Oklahoma City Thunder at Indiana Pacers, 8:30 p.m.                            Series tied 1-1

NBA – Pacers, back home in Indiana, have some things to figure out before Game 3
The Indiana Pacers simply couldn’t wait to get home early Monday. There’s a slew of possible reasons for that. Maybe they just wanted to get out of Oklahoma City with their split of the first two games in the NBA Finals. Maybe they couldn’t wait to see what finals fever will look like in Indianapolis after a 25-year wait to get back to the title round. Or maybe they just wanted to get back to work. It’s probably a little of everything — especially the last part. Yes, the Pacers are tied with the Thunder 1-1 after two games of the NBA Finals. For the lower-seeded team, that’s huge; the Pacers took home-court advantage away by winning Game 1. But they know that if they don’t take care of their own business at home, starting with Game 3 on Wednesday night, it’ll be advantage Thunder again, just like that.

WNBA – Clark will miss 5th game with quad strain but could soon start ‘ramping back up’
Caitlin Clark will sit out a fifth consecutive game with a quadriceps strain when Indiana visits Atlanta on Tuesday. The focus now shifts to whether the Fever star will return against the WNBA champion New York Liberty. Indiana coach Stephanie White stopped short of saying Clark had been cleared for basketball activities. White says the club was ready for the reigning Rookie of the Year to start “ramping back up.” The Fever initially said Clark would miss at least two weeks. It has been 16 days since Clark was injured in a 90-88 loss to the Liberty.

Golf – Schauffele is a sick man when it comes to golf’s toughest test. He loves the US Open
Xander Schauffele concedes to being a sick person because he loves the U.S. Open. It’s called the toughest test in golf and Oakmont is reputed to be the toughest course in the land. Schauffele says he looks forward to the challenge at Oakmont. He’s yet to win the U.S. Open but he has finished in the top 10 in all but one of his eight appearances. Oakmont figures to give everyone fits this week because of its dense rough and super slick greens. Justin Thomas says having a good attitude to him means concentrating over every single shot.

Tennis – Alcaraz and Sinner now take their terrific rivalry to Wimbledon
The takeaways from Carlos Alcaraz’s fifth-set tiebreaker victory over Jannik Sinner in the French Open men’s final are multiple and significant. Let’s start with this: Anyone worried about how men’s tennis would survive in the post-Big Three era can rest easy. Alcaraz and Sinner produced 5 1/2 hours of evidence Sunday that the game is in good hands — and that their rivalry will be, and perhaps already is, a transcendent one. They have combined to win the past six Grand Slam titles and eight of the last 11. Now they’ll head to Wimbledon, where play begins June 30.

NFL – The late Jim Irsay’s 3 daughters take charge of Colts under his transition plan
The Indianapolis Colts are moving forward with the late Jim Irsay’s transition plan for ownership, which calls for his three daughters to take charge of the club. The team says Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt and Kalen Jackson each would continue to hold the title of owner. They’ve held that title since 2012 when they were named vice chairs. Irsay-Gordon will be CEO, Foyt executive vice president and Jackson chief brand officer. Irsay died at age 65 last month.

NCAA – College commissioners laud $2.8B antitrust settlement, want Congress to act
Conference commissioners lauded a judge’s approval of a $2.8 billion antitrust lawsuit settlement as a means for bringing stability and fairness to an out-of-control college athletics industry. They also acknowledged there would be growing pains. Commissioners of the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC renewed their call for congressional action to codify the settlement and emphasized that cooperation at every level of college sports would be necessary to make it work.
