Small business owners and budding entrepreneurs will have a chance to learn more about the kind of support available to them, and how to get it, with a workshop set for this month in Benton Harbor.
The Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber and Horizon Bank are teaming up for the event on Small Business Administration loans. Horizon Bank Market President for Berrien County Bruce Piekarski tells us all kinds of businesses can benefit from SBA support.
“Small business can be relatively large-sized businesses too,” Piekarski said. “It’s not just the retail shop on Main Street or the small dry cleaner or something along those lines. There’s a number of small manufacturers and they’re quite diversified. It’s a way to bridge the gap for them to gain access to capital, equipment, financing.”
Piekarski says the event on June 24 will feature a panel of industry experts to explain how best to go about seeking SBA loans.
“By getting it all in one location with presentation from the experts at SBA really probably helps, we think, the small business owner understand what’s out there and available to them.”
On hand will be representatives of the SBA, Great Lakes Commercial Finance, the Michigan Small Business Development Center, and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
Business owners, and those thinking of starting a business, are invited. The workshop will be the morning of June 24 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Benton Harbor. You can RSVP right here.
