As President Trump sends active-duty marines to Los Angeles to combat immigration protests, leaders around Michigan are calling for peaceful protests throughout the state this weekend.

Sherri Masson with Statewide Indivisible Michigan says ICE agents have hardly been targeting violent criminals.

“Trump and Stephen Miller have been driving a vicious escalation of ICE raids and detentions,” Masson said. “ICE agents have been assigned massive quotas for detentions, and to meet them, they’re going after the people they can find — workers at job sites, immigrants who are following all the rules and reporting for check-ins at courthouses and kids at school.”

There are protests happening this Saturday in multiple areas. They include St. Joseph, South Haven, Paw Paw, Niles, South Bend, and Michigan City.
