Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s gubernatorial road tour made its way to Metro Detroit this week, picking up a big endorsement in the process.

Members of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union — about 40,000 workers strong — endorsed Benson at their headquarters in Southfield.

Everyone, whether you’ve got a D, an R, or an I after your name, you just want government to work well,” Benson said. “People who are frustrated about difficulties opening a business, or finding childcare, or building a home, there’s a through line through all of it. Government agencies need to work better to serve the people and improve their lives, and that’s one thing that I can uniquely bring to the table as a candidate for governor.”

Benson is in the process of visiting more than a dozen cities and counties across Michigan, taking part in town halls and conversations with residents as she traverses the campaign trail.
