The Bicentennial Bridge between Benton Harbor and St. Joseph will be closed to vehicular traffic until at least Tuesday, July 8.
The Michigan Department of Transportation says crews on Tuesday were able to replace the bridge’s cylinder, but they had issues getting the structure to close properly. That shut down westbound vehicle traffic for a while Wednesday afternoon, but then MDOT announced the bridge will be closed to all vehicular traffic all weekend.
Boat traffic can still pass through because the bridge is in the open position.
MDOT will let us know when something changes.
