A couple of road projects are about to start around Berrien and Cass counties.

The Michigan Department of Transportation says it’ll begin work on a $3.6 million project to repair the Niles-Buchanan Road bridge over US-31 starting Tuesday, July 8. Planned work includes bridge repairs, an epoxy overlay, pin and hanger replacements, joint replacements, painting, pressure relief joints, and approach replacements. The work will mean single lane closures and traffic shifts through November 7. The project is expected to repair and preserve the bridge, extending its service life and improving safety.

Additionally, MDOT says it’ll start the resurfacing of almost eight miles of M-62 from M-140 to M-51 near Dowagiac on Monday, July 7. That project will also mean single lane closures. The work is expected to conclude July 31.
