AAA is doing its part to help keep drunk drivers off the road this Fourth of July.
AAA of Michigan spokesperson Adrienne Woodland tells us they’re activating the Tow to Go program from 6 p.m. on Friday through 6 a.m. on Monday. Tow to Go will give someone a free ride when they’ve had too much to drink.
“When someone calls Toe to Go, AAA dispatches a tow truck to transport a would-be impaired driver and their vehicle to a safe location within a 10-mile radius,” Woodland said.
Woodland says since Tow to Go started, it’s made a real difference to keep the roads safer.
“AAA has provided the service in select states for more than 25 years, and since its inception, the auto club has successfully removed nearly 30,000 impaired drivers from the roadway.”
Woodland says Tow to Go is free and open to everyone, not just AAA members. However, it’s to be viewed as a last resort. She strongly urges anyone who might be drinking when they go out to make a plan for a ride home.
