
Congressman Tim Walberg is praising U.S. House passage of a massive federal spending bill that will slash funding to Medicaid and make permanent President Donald Trump’s 2017 tax cuts.
Speaking after the House vote Thursday, Walberg said this is a historic win.
“The last four years of failed policies have fueled crippling inflation, and without passage, the average Michigander was facing a 27% tax increase. By reining in wasteful spending and permanently extending the Trump tax cuts, families will receive much-needed economic relief and will be able to pocket more of their hard-earned receive much-needed economic relief and will be able to pocket more of their hard-earned money.
Meanwhile, Congressman Bill Huizenga also celebrated the bill, saying the plan will increase “take home pay as much as $7,500 through provisions such as no tax on tips and no tax on overtime.” He says the bill will also increase tax breaks for seniors, strengthen the child tax credit, make made-in-America car loan interest tax deductible, and “address inflation with the largest mandatory spending reduction ever.”
The plan is expected to increase the national debt by $3.4 trillion over the next ten years, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
