Set for July 26 at Union Park in Benton Harbor is the Berrien County Health Department’s third annual Dad’s Day in the Park, a chance for dads of all walks of life to bring their families, have some fun, and mingle with other dads.
Health department adolescent pregnancy and parenting program case manager Charlie Patterson tells us the event will include free food, a raffle with a special surprise, and gifts from local businesses.
“We have different vendors coming out, we have educational opportunities, we have the Friend of the Court, if people have questions for the Friend of the Court, we have barbers, we have the YMCA, the Center for Wellness, we’ve got blood pressure checks,” Patterson said.
Patterson says the first Dads Day at the Park attracted about 100 fathers, while last year they had about 140. He’s hoping to top that this year. Something to note is they will have special awards for the oldest and youngest dad to attend.
Dads Day at the Park will be on the 26th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and all dads are invited to come with their whole family for a day of celebration.
