The annual Mike Yore Memorial Car Show is set for this Friday in downtown St. Joseph.
St. Joseph Today’s Daniele Crevier tells us the event is named in honor of Mike Yore, a car lover and racer who helped found the now defunct but legendary Venetian Festival. Yore died in 2000, but his name lives on with the car show that will be held along Lake Boulevard from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Crevier says it’ll be a great time.
“Last year, we were fortunate enough to have some beautiful weather,” Crevier said. “So we had over 200 cars. We’re hoping for a repeat of that. And it’s just, it’s a lovely variety of cars, all from classics. We’ve got some newer cars as well, and it’s just a really fun way to get out, enjoy the community, wee some friendly faces. We call like almost like a reunion show. You see a lot of people that see each other once a year and it’s just really fun to watch them reconnect.”
Anyone looking to show off their hot rod can head to the event zone starting at 1 p.m. You’re asked to enter at Lake Boulevard and Park Street.
Crevier says in addition to the Mike Yore Car Show, the Friday Night Concert Series also gets started for the season at the John E.N. Howard Bandshell starting at 7 p.m. And she notes the St. Joseph Farmers Market and Artisan Fair will be Saturday.
