The village of Eau Claire has now put part of the former Silver Beach Playground to good use.

We’ve reported that when Berrien County purchased new playground equipment for Silver Beach County Park, it donated the old equipment to the village. Now Eau Claire Village Clerk Virginia Gonzalez tells us they’ve installed half of the equipment at Elizabeth Park. She says kids have been using it and having a great time.

The other half of the equipment will be installed at Veterans Park soon. Also, Gonzalez says the village has set up a gazebo from the county right along Main Street. She says that’s also being put to good use and there are plans to add a bench and maybe a picnic table nearby.

Gonzalez told us in September of last year the Eau Claire Village Council voted to accept the Silver Beach Playground equipment after the village had trouble securing grants for playgrounds on its own. She said the plan was to divide the equipment across the two parks so there’s something available for multiple age ranges at both locations.

Anyone feeling nostalgic for the old Silver Beach Playground is welcome to head to Eau Claire to pay it a visit.
