
Bond has been set at $2 million for a South Bend man charged in the shooting death of a woman in Niles Township this week.
The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department says 33-year-old Rene Lopez Alvarado is charged with open murder and felony firearm in the death of his girlfriend, 29-year-old Courtney Hershberger. She was found shot to death in a mobile home Monday afternoon.
Alvarado was arraigned on Wednesday in Fifth District Berrien County Court. His $2 million bond also came with a GPS tether condition.
