It could be the end of the line for Northern Michigan’s River Queen.

The riverboat has been a popular tourist attraction, but it sank in March. Laurie Rice is president of the AuSable River Queen and is doing everything in her power to save it, but she says there are powers working against her. A judge ordered the ship to be removed from the water and Oscoda Township. It’s been out of the water, but now they want it out of sight.

Rice contends officials have been interfering making it difficult to save the ship which they’re trying to do.

I want to figure out what else we can do with this boat,” Rice said. “You know, there’s other places that might want to take it. Maybe we can fix it and bring it back here. I don’t know, to be honest with you.”

The River Queen was moved it to shore while crews disassembled the top half trying to make it easier to transport elsewhere.
