One suspect is facing charges after a Southwest Enforcement Team drug bust at Blossom Acres Apartments in Benton Township on Wednesday.

SWET says officers served a search warrant at the complex, but were refused entry by the suspect. SWET says the suspect also threw “an object” into the woods near his apartment while officers sought entry. That item was recovered, and the team says it was found to be a box containing about 90 grams of fentanyl.

The 36-year-old suspect from Benton Township was under investigation for suspected fentanyl trafficking, and police say he’d just been released from parole earlier this month on a prior fentanyl conviction. He’s now back in the Berrien County Jail on charges of possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, maintaining a drug house, evidence tampering, and resisting and obstructing.
