
Elections are being held in a handful of Southwest Michigan communities Tuesday.
In Berrien County, there’s a Benton Harbor City Commission primary on the ballot. Voters will choose two candidates to run in November for an at-large seat. On the ballot are current Commissioner Duane Seats, former Commissioner Mary Alice Adams, Shaquille Turner, Deidre Maria Fields, and former Commissioner Jerry Edwards. In Buchanan, voters are being asked to renew the library millage.
In Van Buren County, South Haven has a primary for mayor as Mayor Annie Brown is being challenged by city council member Mary Hosley and Joshua Lemmer. There are also primaries being held for city council in Wards 1 and 2. In Ward 1, Samantha Kellum, Lisa Krupiarz, and Eddie Polk will all be on the ballot. In Ward 2, it’s Kent Brindley, Thomas Capps, and Todd Heinrich. As in the mayoral primary, the top two vote getters in each council primary will go on to the general election.
In Cass County, voters will consider a renewal of the operating millage for Marcellus Community Schools.
