Ford will be outlining its strategy for electric vehicles next week.
Ford CEO Jim Farley shared a little about the plan with Bloomberg after announcing Ford’s second quarter earnings last week.
“We’re going very low-end, super affordable EVs for urban duty cycles and for commercial” Farely said. “Our E-Transit has been very successful with people who have scheduled routes. They don’t have to worry about public charging on the fly. That’s where we’re seeing traction with our EV business.”
Farley told auto analysts August 11 will be a “Model T moment” for Ford, and the new strategy will be about making money on electric vehicles and competing against the Chinese.
