The Michigan State Fair is back this week.

The fair runs from Thursday through Labor Day at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. Craig Bender with the fair tells us there will be old favorites, like the goats and the pigs, and new surprises.

“This year we have a new BMX, FMX stunt team,” Bender said. “It’s the dialed action stunt team, and they’re going to be there all weekend, which is pretty fascinating to see them fly in the air. Oh my goodness, it’s hard to fathom.”

Bender says the fair will be on abbreviated hours this year and will have increased security after the deadly shooting of a teen outside of the event last year.

Children under 18 will not be allowed at the fair without a parent or guardian.
