Tickets are available now for the Denise Bohn Pink Event, set for October 10 to raise money for cancer-related charities.
The event was started as the Pink Tie Ball, organized by news reporter and breast cancer survivor Denise Bohn. It ended when Denise died in 2016, but Denise Bohn Pink Event organizer Katie Hess tells us friends and supporters brought it back last year in a slightly different form.
“We wanted to keep the idea going, so we named it in her honor,” Hess said. “We‘ve changed it over the years to be more inclusive of people going through all cancers, not just breast cancer, but we kind of keep the pink thing going also in honor of how we started.”
Hess says last year went well, and they’re excited to welcome everyone to come and make a difference on October 10 at The Inn at Harbor Shores. It’ll be a ball with a pink theme, food, entertainment, and the presentation of the Denise Bohn Promise Award.
Proceeds this year will go to Betty’s Buddies in support of community members and families affected by all forms of cancer.
“We find non-profits that are supporting people locally and then give the money to them…It’s more private organizations or personal organizations, so people who don’t have as much of a reach.”
Hess says tickets are going fast, so it’s best to get them now. You can get them right here.
