It looks like Berrien County has found its next finance director.
Speaking to the board of commissioners this week, County Administrator Brian Dissette said although it received plenty of applications for the job, the county didn’t have to look far. It’s hiring the assistant financial director, Jake Litaker.
“Jake was selected as a successful candidate from a pool of more than 20 applicants,” Dissette said. “He brings nearly a decade of governmental accounting and finance experience, all with Bering County since beginning his county career in 2013. He has moved from enterprise resource planning applicant specialist through increasing responsibilities and roles.”
Litaker replaces Doug James, who retired this year after serving as finance director since 2009.
Dissette said he’ll have a resolution for commissioners to consider next week to make Litaker’s appointment official.
