A researcher at Michigan State University has introduced a shampoo that could help chemo patients.
Part of the battle with cancer is losing hair, and researcher Brian Smith is developing a shampoo gel that could help patients keep it through treatment.
“All you do is you put this kind of shampoo on, there’s a molecule that’s released, and it essentially constricts the blood vessels pharmacologically using this drug,” Smith said. “These drugs are already approved for human use, for other things. There’s no potential side effects for them.”
Next for Smith’s team, it needs to be tested in humans. And they’ll need more funding for that for clinical trials.
