Two suspects are in custody following a stabbing and vehicle theft early Wednesday in Cass County.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Department says deputies were called to the area of Patterson Hill Road and Mann Street in Newberg Township around 5:40 a.m. when a 911 caller reported the incident. When deputies arrived, they found a man who said he had been riding with two other men when one of them stabbed him and the other two took off in his truck.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Department, Pokagon Tribal Police, and the Cassopolis Police later found the stolen vehicle and arrested the two suspects. The victim was taken by ambulance to Elkhart General Hospital, where he was reported in stable condition.

The names of the suspects have not yet been released, and the incident remains under investigation.
