The race for Benton Harbor City Commission has now attracted some Hollywood attention as actor Ernie Hudson has endorsed Commissioner Duane Seats in his reelection bid.

In a video posted to social media by the “Committee to Elect Duane Seats II Benton Harbor Commissioner At Large,” Hudson urges voters to support Seats.

If you love Benton Harbor as much as I do, then I’m asking you to re-elect Dwayne L. Seats, Commissioner-at -Large, in the November 4 general election,” Hudson said. “Duane Seats, proven, experienced, and a connected resource for the continued progress of the city of Benton Harbor.”

Hudson, who most famously played Winston Zeddemore in the Ghostbusters franchise, is a native of Benton Harbor and has been involved in the community in a variety of ways over the years. In June of last year, the city of Benton Harbor honored him by naming South Fair Avenue from Buss Avenue to Hall Street “Ernie Hudson Way.” He’s also known to do work with the GhostLight Theater.

Seats is one of four candidates running for an at-large seat on the city commission in the November 4 election. Two will be elected. The candidates are Seats, Mary Alice Adams, Deidre Fields, and Shaquille Turner.
