Lincoln Township has received another positive audit report.

At a meeting this week, the township board of trustees heard from CPA Kenley Penner of Plante and Moran, who said this year’s audit is clean and unmodified, meaning the firm found no material issues. General fund expenditures were about $180,000 less than the amount that was budgeted, which was $2.2 million.

Lincoln Township Supervisor Glenn Youngstedt told us the staff can be credited with managing finances well this past year.

We had a real good audit,” Youngstedt said. “I think everybody’s happy with it. We don’t spend any money unless we have to, and that’s what the residents want to hear.”

Penner said the township is now debt-free and called its financial results “phenomenal.” He did warn trustees the township’s investment returns could slow down due to the state of the economy, so he urged them to be prepared for that change in the year ahead. He also noted the township has now spent all but $15,000 of its federal ARPA funds, so there’s no concerns about losing an opportunity to pay for major projects.
