We’re about two weeks away from the November elections, and Berrien County voters will some a few big questions to decide.

First up is the Lake Michigan College millage renewal. LMC is asking voters to reauthorize its operating millage of 0.6655 mills for 20 years. That pays for the college’s day to day expenses, expected to raise about $8.9 million in 2027. The college is also asking for a 10-year renewal of its capital millage, which pays for building improvements and security. LMC is seeking a reduced capital millage, cutting it in half from its current rate to 0.24 mills. That would raise an estimated $3.2 million in 2027.

Also on the ballot will be a $59 million bond proposal from St. Joseph Public Schools. The district is seeking the funds to pay for building improvements, classroom technology, school buses, athletic facility improvements, and upgrades to parking lots and driveways.

Eau Claire Public Schools will also have a bond proposal on the ballot. It’s asking for $8.3 million for building improvements, technology, and playgrounds.

The city of Niles is seeking a renewal of its Dial a Ride millage, while Niles Township is seeking a zoning amendment prohibiting marijuana businesses. Royalton Township is seeking a 0.25 mill millage to pay for firefighting equipment, while Weesaw Township is seeking one mill for the same reason. Weesaw Township is also asking to renew its roads millage. Finally, Brandywine Community Schools is asking for the renewal of its sinking fund millage.
