The 2026 cruise season in the Great Lakes is expected to generate $300 million dollars from nearly 175,000 passenger visits.

Cruise the Great Lakes Tourism Director Sally Davis-Berry says there are several ports in Michigan.

“Detroit is obviously one of the big ones, and that’s one of the turnaround spots, meaning that’s where folks get off and get on,” Davis-Berry said. “So the city of Detroit gets to see folks coming in ahead of time and folks staying afterwards, but also Mackinac Island, Houghton, Muskegon, Holland.”

Davis-Berry says they’re in talks to make Alpena a port.

Davis-Berry says Cruise the Great Lakes helps to promote cruising to the entire Great Lakes region. That’s all five Great Lakes, as well as some of the St. Lawrence Seaway.
