The first ever “Rock St. Jude Radiothon,” held by WIRX Radio last week, has been a resounding success.
WIRX took the reins from Y Country this year for the event to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Director of Content Kristen Havens, known on the air as Kiki with Brock and Kiki in the afternoons, tells us listeners came forward to support St. Jude in a big way.
“We raised $20,124 for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which is incredible, especially for our first year taking the reins of this Radiothon,” Havens said.
WIRX reaches a broad audience, and Havens says the results show that.
“What really stands out is how the community just rallied. People called in from all over. We had donors from Michigan City to Elkhart to South Haven. I mean, and all the cities in between. So it was a very large community that tuned in and gave.”
WIRX ran the radiothon all day on Thursday and Friday, inviting listeners to become Partners in Hope by pledging $19 per month. Of course, all donations of any amount help St. Jude continue providing care for children battling cancer, free of charge. Havens says everyone can still give at WIRX.com. She also thanked the radiothon’s sponsoring partners.
Rock St. Jude Radiothon with WIRX was presented by Levalley Chevy GMC with support from Pro Muffler and Brake Shop, Lakefront Roofing and Exteriors, McGhee’s Heating & Air, Pristine Pool and Spa, Hollywood Small Engine, Enders Auto Repair, Power Strike Fitness, Hanson Beverage, and The Mitten Insurance Agency.
