Police and fire crews are just now clearing the scene of a crash involving two semis on eastbound I-94 Monday morning.

The crash occurred around 7 a.m. near mile marker 29. It shut down the eastbound lanes of the highway for several hours.

The Benton Township Police Department is leading the investigation, but we’re told the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene with its HAZMAT team.

The eastbound lanes reopened around 1 p.m.

The Benton Township Police Department says it will release further details about the crash this afternoon.
