Those who develop automated vehicles feel they will learn from a weekend incident that pretty much froze an entire fleet of self driving vehicles.
Waymo vehicles in San Francisco came to a stop over the weekend when the power went out at their operation center. There were no crashes or injuries, but it is an issue many hadn’t expected.
Auto industry analyst John McElroy says we’re seeing a lot of progress on the automated vehicle front.
“I think what we’ll look back on as for 2025 is this kind of is turning into the year of autonomous vehicles,” McElroy said.
Waymo is bringing its vehicles to Michigan, but we still don’t have a timetable.
